Hypnotic Brass Ensemble - Cobra Krames - Kuf Knotz - Bury Me in Brooklyn

The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble live at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory 9.19.13

Two tracks that have been in my crates for a very long time are Cobra Krames "oh my god" and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble "Spottie" (outkast cover).  I had a chance to see both artists perform in one night on Friday night and Saturday morning very early thanks to Kuf Knotz, the Knitting Factory, LongArms, Lindsey, and the rest of the Crocmode family.

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble is like 7 dudes with horns of all shapes and sizes and a drummer. There's also an emcee who mostly just pumps up the crowd - I didn't hear any verses.  Knitting Factory was going nuts for these dudes.  Here's a video:

Before HBE we stopped at one of our many Williamsburg homes Spike Hill and checked out a performance from my sometime tour-mate and always dear friend and healthy living aficionado Kuf Knotz.

Kuf Knotz performs "Soul Music" at Spike Hill - Williamsburg - 9.19.13
Kuf lit up the stage at a well-attended Spike Hill with a combination of tight production and his signature loose flow (and clothing!) He even brought MH the Verb up for a verse and it was one I hadn't heard before - really dug the multi-syllabic rhymes and mixed up kadences.

After checking out Kuf we ran into some new friends on the streetcorner in Williamsburg from Free Conversation.  They basically inflate these couches in different parts of the world and have signs that have suggested conversation topics.  The idea is to engage people in a way that they are comfortable with - in their own neighborhoods.  I haven't quite figured out the motivation yet but I am pretty sure they are doing it for charitable purposes and regardless this could be a great way to help people who just need someone to talk to.

Bury me in Brooklyn Rave
After we had a free conversation we ran into good friends Lindsey and new friend Hillary and hit a late night warehouse-ish rave in Bushwick from the Bury Me in Brooklyn crew.  These dudes definitely know how to throw a party, with plentiful booze, a cool roof-deck, strippers, and Cobra Krames on the decks! We got there around 4am which was apparently early because people really started showing up around 5. It was crushed by the time we left at 6:30 or so.
