The Timber Party with CFLO - Poon at Fat Buddha - Johnny Polygon at Pianos

If you live in NYC and don't suck art in at the rate of the Oreck XL you are probably getting ripped off.

My night started at Fat Buddha on 13th and A.  This is an easy choice for weekly Thursday dance party in the Village with Poon and friends Marvl and Daheatadakid.  It's an Asian scene but it's also an arts scene with lots of photographers and DJs. It's also just a cool young person scene with college chicks and Indian girls.  The best thing about this party is how organic the vibe is - everyone knows everyone and is wearing the gear also. Even the bartender had a #NoRequests hat!

If you're visiting NYC from Russia and going out in the LES it is a veritable certainty that you will end up at Pianos.  This is an institution, not just a nightlife destination.  Johnny Polygon is a virtuoso and a sensation. I have been following his career since being introduced by my Oklahoman friends and definitely look forward to the videos and singles. He has a great look and polished performance even while programming a lot of the instrumentals live on a roland drumpad and incorporating live cello and trumpet. The balloons are because it was his birthday.

Continuing South on Ludlow I landed at Los Feliz for CFLO's "Timber Party."  This dude is a legitimate genius and has found a way to leverage the power of the internet to pack every spot he DJs from now until the end of time.  Honestly I'm not sure he needs the internet because he has the skills to back up all of the promo.  He mixes extremely clean and has enough edits to sink Noah's Ark.  The venue is wild with a DJ booth that you have to climb up to on these rickety metal rungs and numerous rooms and cloisters in which to make bad decisions.  I'm already looking forward to the next episode.
